Working together in rehabilitation

Connecting clinicians, researchers and leaders to shape the future

The Australasian Rehabilitation Outcomes Centre (AROC) invites you to the inaugural Australasian Rehabilitation Symposium 2026: Rehabilitation – Everybody’s Business — a dedicated forum bringing together rehabilitation professionals from across Australia and New Zealand. Rehabilitation sits at the intersection of multiple disciplines, services, and patient populations. From stroke and brain injury to orthopaedic conditions, amputation, and complex medical presentations, it is central to improving outcomes across the health system. Yet opportunities to come together as a sector to reflect on practice, explore emerging evidence, and learn across settings remain limited.

Rehabilitation – Everybody’s Business has been designed to address that gap.

Bringing together clinicians, researchers, leaders, and service providers from across Australia and New Zealand, the program will explore current challenges and future opportunities in rehabilitation. Through expert-led presentations and discussions, we encourage you to actively engage, share your perspectives, challenge ideas, and build the connections that will strengthen rehabilitation across our region.

Join us to explore ideas, challenge current thinking, and contribute to shaping the future of rehabilitation across Australia and New Zealand.

About the theme: Rehabilitation – Everyone’s Business

Rehabilitation is everybody’s business. Improving outcomes requires coordinated effort across disciplines, services, and systems. In an environment of increasing demand, workforce pressures, and evolving models of care, rehabilitation must continue to adapt — strengthening how we use data, share knowledge, and translate evidence into practice. This symposium will provide a platform for innovation, collaboration, and shared learning across the rehabilitation community, exploring the role of rehabilitation in improving outcomes for individuals and delivering system-wide impact.

Presentations will cover all areas of rehabilitation practice, research, and service delivery, including:

  • Demonstrating the value of rehabilitation: models of care, innovation in service delivery, and pathways
  • Using data to improve outcomes: benchmarking, quality, and performance insights
  • Translating evidence into practice: implementation, innovation, and real-world impact
  • Person-centred rehabilitation: goal setting, engagement, and lived experience
  • Equity and access in rehabilitation services

Have an idea, initiative, or insight to share? Submit an abstract and be part of the program shaping the future of rehabilitation.
