Professor Shengwei Wang

Director of Research Institute for Smart Energy (RISE) | Chair Professor of Building Energy and Automation | Otto Poon Charitable Foundation Professor in Smart Building | Department of Building Environment and Energy Engineering | The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

Professor Wang’s research focuses on smart building energy technologies, including system optimisation and control of air-conditioning and energy systems, energy flexibility, and grid-interactive management. He has received over 60 research grants, including a CRF, 20+ GRFs, and an NSFC talent grant. Ranked among the top 200 in Energy (2022–23) and top 25 in Building and Construction (2020–21), he’s also led $30M+ in industry projects, achieving annual savings of up to 42%.

Dr Stephen White

Energy Performance Research Leader, CSIRO

Dr White leads Energy Efficiency Research at CSIRO with over 25 years’ experience in energy end-use efficiency and demand-side management. He was Operating Agent for the IEA EBC Annex 81 “Data-Driven Smart Buildings” and now co-leads Annex 96 “Grid Integrated Control of Buildings”. He oversees national energy-use datasets and the “Data Clearing House” platform, has founded several start-ups, designed award-winning HVAC systems, and is in AIRAH’s Hall of Fame and a James Harrison Award winner.
