UOW Innovation Campus

Located on the beautiful Illawarra coastline, just over an hour south of Sydney, the UOW Innovation Campus is a modern waterfront precinct designed to support collaboration, research and innovation. Surrounded by beaches and the escarpment, the campus provides an inspiring setting for scientific discussion, networking and knowledge exchange. 

The University of Wollongong (UOW) is internationally recognised for excellence in environmental, marine and coastal research, with strong links to the region’s diverse coastal and estuarine environments. Wollongong and the broader Illawarra region provide an ideal setting for AMSN 2026, offering direct access to mangrove, saltmarsh and coastal wetland systems. 

A range of accommodation options are available across Wollongong, including hotels, serviced apartments, budget accommodation and university residences. Many are located within a short distance of the Innovation Campus and are easily accessible via public transport and free shuttle buses.

• Novotel Wollongong Northbeach – beachfront hotel located near North Wollongong Beach 
• Sage Hotel Wollongong – centrally located near Wollongong Harbour and restaurants 
• Adina Apartment Hotel Wollongong – spacious apartment-style accommodation in the city centre 
• Mantra Wollongong – apartment-style accommodation close to transport links  

By Air 

The closest major airport is Sydney Airport, which offers frequent domestic and international flights. From Sydney Airport, Wollongong is approximately 90 minutes south by road or rail. 

By Train 

Regular train services operate from Sydney Airport and central Sydney to Wollongong Railway Station via the South Coast Line. The scenic journey travels along the coastline and escarpment and takes approximately 1.5–2 hours. 

Local Transport 

Wollongong offers a range of convenient public transport options, including free shuttle bus services connecting the Wollongong city centre, train stations, the University of Wollongong main campus and Innovation Campus. These free buses operate regularly throughout the day and provide easy access to conference venues, accommodation and local attractions. 

Taxis, rideshare services and local bus routes are also readily available throughout the region.
